The Re-Store... where treasure hunters go to get their hands dirty...

So since the beginning I have been a treasure hunter...
I blame it mostly on my mom.. she would wake me up at 7:00 am and hand me the newspaper opened to the classifieds that had numerous yard sale adds circled and say "you ready to go hunt for treasures?"
And so it continued..
I have always loved delving into thrift stores, free boxes and yard sales but everything changed when I discovered my local Habitat for Humanity Re-Store... Talk about a playground for the up-cycle enthusiast! Ive started coming home with carloads of random fun things that I think can be used around the home and garden...
Here are the things I got on my last visit... I am starting to give the front of my little studio cabin a face lift so I went there looking for creative and cheap things to make into planters, tables, etc.. for my new little "front porch" ... I havent figured out what to do with it all yet, but all this should keep me busy for a little while..

These are GREAT... 2 small and 2 large wire baskets.. I think the small ones were part of a rotisserie. I dont know if I am going to paint them or leave them plain metal... For the small ones I want to line them with coco mat or peat moss to make little planters... and for the big ones I might just make them cute holders for terra cotta flower pots...

Cute window with broken lattice work.. only 6.00$... paint, add hooks and hang on the outside wall!

This so cool... It originally was used as a spool for electrical wire but now is going to live its new life as a plant stand....

Now this is were I start reaching a little bit... I think this is for a BBQ or stove... I just really liked the pattern of the holes and the handles.. This might become a tray for flower pots or even a table top! I want to sand it down a little to remove the rust.. then paint it... hmmm the wheels are turning (suggestions?)

PAINT SUPPLIES!!!! this is where the money saving really kicks in.. The re-store has TONS of paint, stain, primer and all the supplies that go with them... Rollers 1.50$ drop cloth 1.00$ paint 6.00$ a gallon!!! SCORE!

Cool rusty saws... hang on the wall as decor

Two planters... one pottery with a nice design and one plain and plastic... going to paint the plastic one... coz its borrrring

This is MY FAVORITE score of the day... Its a large metal container that was part of a sand blasting system.. it has 2 handles and a little spout on the bottom... so cool... cant decide if I want to paint it or leave it metal.. This is going to make a unique and fabulously up-cylced flower pot..

This is weird.. I still cant figure out what it is... the top is uneven so it cant be a base for a tray or table.. I was originally thinking it would make a neat holder for some small hanging pots.. then my friend suggested using it as part of my jewelery display for festivals and craft shows.. hmmm (any suggestions as to what you think it is? or could be?)

sweet and simple little metal trough.. to be painted and have a few drainage holes drilled.. voila! lettuce planter!
